What does Joy MCC offer?
Participation
Altar Team

The altar team is responsible for two aspects of preparing
the sanctuary for worship. First, is the preparation of
elements for Communion. Second is decorating the sanctuary
with appropriate items and colors for each liturgical
season. The altar team meets on an “as needed” basis and is
always seeking additional volunteers.
Deacons

The primary role of Deacon at Joy is to support the
pastors. This support takes on many forms, including
hospital and home visits, leadership in other Joy
ministries, altar service, Eucharistic ministry and
serving as a resource to the congregation. Deacons are
appointed by the Pastors, approved by the Board of
Directors, and must successfully complete a six-month
candidacy program prior to being set aside (MCC does not
ordain deacons).
Finance Team

The Finance Team assists the Board of Directors with the
financial concerns of the church. They help insure that
Joy’s bookkeeping practices are appropriate, they arrange
audits of accounts and help promote stewardship throughout
the church year. Volunteers with particular financial
experience are highly desired for this team
Gardners of Joy

This team is responsible for maintaining the grounds of
the church. From mowing to planting, this team works to
provide a beautiful environment for those who worship at
Joy. Especially during the summer months, volunteers who
are willing and able to mow are highly desired.
Hospitality Team

The Hospitality Team provides refreshments after each
worship service at Joy. They offer major assistance
with special events such as Homecoming, the annual
Thanksgiving Food Drive and for special services of
worship like the annual International AIDS Candlelight
Vigil.
Multimedia Team

There are many aspects of multimedia ministry at Joy. Volunteers are needed to operate cameras, run the soundboard, do production on the Globecaster system, set up equipment, and work on the church website. Training is provided in all areas except web development.
Office Support Team

The office support team provides a variety of functions.
Staffing the front office, answering the phones, assisting
with publications and mailings, putting together worship
leader books, and assisting with the Food Bank are just a
few of the duties they cover.

USHERS

The Usher Team at Joy provides a wonderful service to the
congregation. Often the first face attendees see, ushers
offer a warm greeting, distribute bulletins, assist
congregants in finding seats, deliver welcome gifts and
handle any special requests from the Pastors or others
during worship.
